Mayor Fouts has approved an emergency purchase order designed to prevent loss of phone service, due to aging infrastructure that must immediately be upgraded or Warren is faced with losing phone services at City Hall, Police, Fire Administration, Waste Water Treatment Plant, Community Center, Water Division, DPW and after-hours emergency lines for Water and DPW.
Several weeks ago, in early December 2021 the Warren Fire Department was without incoming calls by residents and others due to a problem in the system. We were able to fix it but the next emergency could be devastating and detrimental to the health, safety, and welfare of our citizens. We have worked diligently to make this happen sooner by requesting urgent action from the Warren Council for either the December 14, 2021 or December 21, 2021 meetings, these requests were rejected by council leadership.
Since then, we decided we needed emergency action to prevent an unthinkable emergency with our phone lines. Because of an old system it must be upgraded immediately, the unnecessary delay by the council is unacceptable and thus we move forward for the best interest of public safety.
